A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
